Award-winning singer and performer Davido has released an official statement about his rumoured arrest which circulated on social media.

In what has been categorized as an April Fools prank, a Kenyan media outlet released a news publication which claimed that the Grammy award-winning singer and performer Davido had been arrested after his recent concert on the charges of drug possession after his performance at the Raha Festival.

A news outlet in Kenya has claimed that Davido, a Nigerian artist who has been nominated for a Grammy award, was arrested for possession of drugs. The story, which has since been removed, alleged that cocaine worth Ksh18 million was discovered on Davido’s private jet. Furthermore, it’s reported that the artist’s jet was at JKIA, where he was allegedly detained while an investigation was conducted.

These false reports attracted concerns from fans and also a direct response from Davido who revealed that legal steps would be taken as what has been categorized as a defamatory news publication.
